What openSIF is
A free tool that takes payroll details you type in and arranges them into the spreadsheet layout Omani banks accept for Wage Protection System filing. It formats data. It does not move money, contact your bank, or file anything on your behalf.
Check the file before you file it
openSIF's layout follows a file a bank accepted, but templates change and banks differ. Before you upload anything:
- open the file and read it
- check the totals against your own records
- check the Social Protection rate against the current published rate
You are responsible for what you upload. A file openSIF considers valid may still be rejected, and a file that uploads cleanly may still be wrong.
Not advice
Nothing here is legal, tax, accounting or financial advice. The Social Protection contribution rate the tool suggests is an editable default, not a statement of what you owe.
No warranty
openSIF is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. It may contain errors, be unavailable, or produce a file your bank rejects.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any loss arising from use of openSIF — including a rejected filing, a late salary payment, any penalty, or lost or corrupted data.
Your work is stored only in your own browser. Nobody else holds a copy, which means nobody else can restore one. Keep your own records.
Acceptable use
Use openSIF for payroll you are authorised to process. Do not use it to attempt to reach other people's data, to disrupt the service, or for anything unlawful.
Changes
These terms may change, and the date at the top changes with them. Continuing to use openSIF after a change means accepting it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman.
